A native Seattleite and East Coast transplant, I have been interested in politics, religion, and race from the day I saw “The Autobiography of Malcolm X” on the bookshelf belonging to my BFF’s mom back in 1991. While my zealotry has thankfully diminished with maturity, I remain the deep thinking, passionate, and humble woman I have always been.

  1. Love this. Thanks for sharing. As a child I was only told to “go to college” to make more money… Not much else. I was the first woman to earn a degree in my family. My grandfather was the first man, and he earned it in his 70s. So with MY children, I’m invested in preparing them for better. … Not just for bragging rights, but for their well being in the future. 🙂
