Slaying It All:Lupita and Vogue

The October 2015 issue of Vogue features the alluring Kenyan actress and darling of the fashion world on the cover.

VogueAs always Nyong’o is both elegant and stunning, rocking the perfect shades on skin that is the definition of flawless. Gold and red, in my opinion, are two of the best colors for dark-skinned individuals to wear. Whether they are chosen for accessories, clothing or makeup the  contrast on dark skin is striking and lovely. I always tell my fellow chocolate and ebony sistas that gold eye shadow and lip gloss are essentials in their makeup bag!

Lupita’s second Vogue cover and her Instagram pictures alike bring a smile to my face. Judging by the outpouring of compliments she receives I know I’m not alone in my appreciation of her beauty. Intense and spirited discussion often takes place around the issues of women, color, how we define beauty and media. But there are times when I want to put all that to the side and simply enjoy the glamour and style of an image, and this cover allows one to do just that.

While my zealotry has thankfully diminished with maturity, I remain the deep thinking, passionate, and humble woman I have always been.
