Life is Good
Like many of you, 2020 has not gone the way I expected! We are roughly halfway through the year and my life is in a different place than it was on January 1st. On June 3rd I looked at my monthly calendar, wistfully smiling at what I wrote months before. My last day at my job was supposed to be June 15th but took place three months earlier. I planned on relocating to New York City at the close of the school year. I moved in the middle of a global pandemic, arriving one day before New York state’s shelter in place went began. My family expected to close and move into our new home in April. COVID-19 impacted that as well, with our home closing delayed to mid-May! Yes, 2020 has been a rollercoaster so far.
And I have not even touched on the tumultuous protests currently engulfing every major American city.
But during it all, in living through change that is unprecedented for my generation, I am fortunate to say that my life is good! Compared to where I was when I started this blog in fall 2010 life is great. When I reflect on how drastically my life has improved, I wish I could tell my younger self to be less cynical. I wish I could tell that hurt and broken 29-year old that she was still in act one. I would tell her to not dwell on past disappointments, to set her mind towards the unbelievably awesome future awaiting her.
Now I stand in that awesome future, on the cusp of entering middle age next month and walking into a new era in my life. With that in mind, this is the ideal time for me to resume blogging and sharing my perspective!
